What we all suspected has been confirmed; the Taoiseach is a dour culchie with no sense of humour, which for Irish people is perhaps worse than all his other faults combined. If someone had painted a portrait of Bertie—nude and on the toilet/sheepishly holding a pair of y-fronts—he probably would've posed with it and bought the guy a pint of Bass.
Alas, Biffo was not amused when an artist did a little guerilla exhibiting this week and put two cheeky portraits of him on display. In fact he was so upset at having the piss taken out of him that the Garda started to investigate it and not only visited Ray D'Arcy to demand information but have actually brought the artist in for questioning. It's good to know that when so many criminals/bankers happily wandering the streets, the Garda is using time and resources so well. As told to D'Arcy, 'the powers that be' wanted an investigation. 'The powers that be' need to wake up and smell the recession. They're not so quick to act on that. If only Michael Dell had painted a picture of Cowen in the nip, he might've been hauled in for a talk earlier.
Not only this but RTE has issued a grovelling apology for reporting on the episode. You would think that a light-hearted 'And finally...' segment on the 9 o'clock news was the worst crime imaginable. Glad to see the national broadcaster can still take a chance although Gerry Ryan is siding with Government and I just want to tell him that that is unlikely to get them to go back on the pay cut! They've even taken the clip off their website but my personal favourite line from the report is the 'who is not believed to have posed for the paintings' *lol* I can't wait for the spoof song on Nob Nation/Gift Grub.
Such a big deal was made out of all this now that the international press are starting to pick it up so Brian and the lads have inadvertently drawn more attention to it. Instead of just making a jeer out of the Taoiseach, the entire country is going to get it in the neck now. Good work, Batman!
To conclude, the Taoiseach should realise that he's already a laughing stock and two paintings won't make much of a difference and I want to urge the artist to do a series of portraits with all the cabinet...too...many...jokes... can't... write... them...all...down.
I also want to say that this post is highly offensive so I'll await my arrest with interest.
